How Long Does a Valorant Game Last?

ShovanBy ShovanAugust 8, 2022

Valorant is a First-Person tactical Shooter and a direct competitor to the legendary tactical FPS Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Apart from being almost the same , the games also have few dissimilarities, one being the no of rounds a match has. Valorant matches have 25 rounds whereas CSGO has 30.

How Long Does a Valorant Game Last For?

Most tactical shooter games generally last for about 25 to 50 minutes. However, in Valorant, the match time is generally decided by the game mode you are playing and how close the match is.

It can be beneficial for players to know how much time it takes to complete a standard match of Valorant. Knowing this will help you plan for other activities and see if you can squeeze in a game of Valorant before you go to sleep. Additionally, we you can also find out how many hours you have played Valorant in total.

Featured Modes

Many factors come into play to determine how long the round or match will last for and not every match you play gonna end the same. Some other factors that impacts how long the match lasts are:

Game Modes

Modes like Unrated and Competitive take longer to finish approximately about 40 mins. Likewise, other game modes such as Spike Rush, Deathmatch, Replication and Escalation are relatively short and lasts for 7 to 15 minutes.

Unrated and Competitive (25-45 minutes)

Unrated and Competitive has best of 25 rounds matches, and the first to complete 13 rounds wins the match. This is the most played game mode and it takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

Spike Rush (8-12 minutes)

Spike rush is an arcade-like game mode where the match lasts for 8 to 12 minutes on average. Spike rush is best of 7 rounds match rather than the usual 24, and the one who wins the four rounds wins the match.

Deathmatch (9 minutes)

Similarly, Deathmatch takes total of 9 minutes. But the match will end sooner if a player drops 40 kills before the timer hits the 9-minute mark.

Replication (10-15 minutes)

Replication mode has few similar rules to that of unrated and competitive mode but is played with the same agents with adjusted economy. It is best of 9 rounds match, the team winning at least 5 rounds will be the winner. The game takes about 10-15 minutes to finish.

Escalation (10-15 minutes)

Escalation is like arcade mode and the match lasts from 10-15 minutes. This mode has 12 escalation levels which consists of random weapons or abilities where first team to complete all the level wins the match.

Overtime

In some cases of Unrated and Competitive mode, the match can go for more than an hour if both teams end up having the same score line till round 24, i.e., 12-12. The game can then go overtime and will not end until a team draws or wins two rounds in a row.

Overtime draw

Hypothetically, the match can go on forever if the team does not draw or win two rounds in a row.

One Sided Stomp

However, if you stomp your opponents or get stomped by opponents, your game may last lesser than 25 minutes. These match will end faster as you will have to play less rounds to complete the match.

Highly Competitive or Tough Players

Ranked matches usually last longer as every player will give their best to win rounds. Each round can take longer as players play strategized Comp and not run it down.

The closer the match and rounds are, the longer the game will last for. This is why matching against and playing with competent players results in the match to last longer.

Surrender

Finally, some matches can end real quick in game modes such as Unrated, Competitive and Replication if you or the other team decides to surrender or forfeit. Surrendering can end a match sooner than its average time. You or your teammates will be able to call for surrender as soon as the fifth round ends.
