How to Get Aspects in Diablo 4? (With Locations)

Aspects are special enchantments that you can apply to your gear to make them even more stronger. They are super useful while making builds for any class and are almost a requirement for the end-game content. 

Among the two different types of aspects that you can get in the game, the first one, Legendary aspects can only be extracted from legendary gears.

Meanwhile, Codex of Power, is obtained by clearing dungeons and completing story missions.

Via Legendary Gear

To extract the aspects from legendary gear, you’ll need to head over to an Occultist. They are a special type of vendor that allows players to extract and imprint legendary aspects, reroll affixes, and craft nightmare sigils.

There are a couple of ways to unlock Occultist in Diablo 4. You can either level up your character to 25 or run through any dungeon in the game at least once. You can then find the Occultists in any major city and town. After that,

1. Interact with the Occultist and switch to the Extract Aspect tab.
2. Right-click on the Legendary gear that you want to extract the aspect from.
3. Click on the Extract Aspect button.

Note: Extracting the aspect from the legendary gear will also destroy the item in the process.

Via Dungeons

Moving on, there’s the Codex of Power. These aspects are relatively weaker than the legendary aspects, and their acquisition method is also much simpler in comparison.

You can get the codex of power as a reward for clearing out dungeons or completing campaign missions in the game. You can check which aspect you can get from the dungeon by simply hovering your mouse cursor on the dungeon.

Currently, there’s a total of 115 codexes of powers that you can obtain in Diablo 4. For the sake of simplicity, they are categorized into five different groups. 

• Offensive
• Defensive
• Resource
• Utility
• Mobility

Each group consists of aspects that boost the respective skill. Every class has its own group of aspects. For example, the Offensive aspects of the Barbarian class are different than the Offensive aspects of Sorceror class.

Furthermore, there are also universal aspects. It consists of aspects that aren’t class exclusive. Meaning you can apply them to your gear, regardless of your character class.
