How to Avoid Peruvians in DotA 2?

Gaurav TamangBy Gaurav TamangMarch 2, 2023

Imagine a scenario – You come home from a long day of work and launch DotA 2, hoping that you’ll be able to win some ranked matches. You also find a match quickly but not even 10 minutes into the game, all your lanes go bad, and your mid starts flaming supports for not ganking and starts being toxic in the chat.

This is your typical Peruvian player, who not only loves throwing games but also enjoys trash-talking to both teammates and enemy players. Also, most of them are non-English speakers which makes it very hard to understand them.

They are also equally annoying, making them one of the most difficult people to play with. If you are getting headaches from constantly having them either as your teammates or enemy players in your games, then here are some tips that’ll help you avoid them to some extent.

Queue on a Different Server

Although you’ll mostly find Peruvians if you try to queue on US-West Server, there are fair shares of them queuing on the US-East server as well. So, if you are someone playing on a US server, you might have played with them on a daily basis.

By changing your playing region or server, you will be able to avoid them in your games to some extent. For the best result, try finding a match in EU-West or EU-East. Although this is not a guaranteed solution, it is helpful to some extent and prevents you from matching with them by a lot.

However, you should note that other regions also have non-English speaking or toxic players. I’ve heard Russian players are very toxic in EU servers and we have Filipinos and Indonesians ruling over the SEA region.

Buy a Dota Plus Subscription

Everyone might be aware of this by now but the surefire way to avoid someone in DotA is buying the Dota Plus Subscription. Apart from various other benefits, it allows users to add up to 25 players to their avoid list which ensures that those 25 people will never get matched with them.

Although 25 players isn’t a big number when there could be literally hundreds of thousands of Peruvians, you can still use it to avoid the most toxic people you’ve come across. Plus, you can also buy additional slots using Dota Plus Shard and increase the number of players you can add to your avoid list.

Play as a 5-Man Stack

The only guaranteed way to avoid Peruvians on your team is to queue as a 5-man stack. So, if you have friends who aren’t Peruvians, now is the time to invite them to your party so you can enjoy some nice games.
